I work in two fields: environmental and perinatal epidemiology. The theme of my environmental research is evaluating the health of people residentially exposed to point sources of pollution. I supervise a PhD student who is investigating possible subtle health changes. I recently co-authored a book on Disease Mapping.
I am also part of a European collaboration, headed by Professor Robert Hume (Dundee), which is investigating thyroid metabolism in neonates. We have extensive data about thyroid ontogeny and have a robust database on these infants. In the next five years, the research will provide answers to fundamental questions about thyroid metabolism.
