My research is concerned with the social and health care of people with intellectual disabilities (ID) generally and specifically those with profound and multiple intellectual disabilities (e.g. Ref. 1), and also age-related change in needs of people with ID as they age (Ref 2). This work is linked explicitly to policy development initiatives internationally through the World Health Organisation (Ref. 2), nationally, through the Scottish Executive and Department of Health (England) (Ref. 3), and locally through local authorities and NHS Trusts.
