Keith Matthews

Professor and Head of Department of Psychiatry
University of Dundee

Research Interests

In general terms, my interests include the psychology and biology of psychiatric disorders, particularly the role of early experience and environmental adversity in creating 'vulnerability'. Specific current interests include the neuropsychopharmacology of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder in children and adolescents and improving the management of chronic, treatment-resistant mental health problems in adults - notably depression and Obsessive Compulsive Disorders. I am also interested in identifying the mechanisms by which environmental and social influences impact upon vulnerability to psychiatric disorder and how they determine responses to treatment interventions.
