Research Interests

My main research interest is in the mechanisms underlying attention control including the role of working memory and emotion related learning in the modulation of attention selection processes. My research includes projects on the effects of closed head injury on attention function, development of translational biomarkers for use in studies of schizophrenia, Attention impairments in Autism. Effects of withdrawal from nicotine, caffeine and food on attention function and the effects of exercise on memory function. I also do some research on musical rhythm processing. I have participated in the TMRI initiative http://www.tmri.co.uk/ and I am participating in the SINAPSE imaging initiative http://www.sinapse.ac.uk/. We have state of the art facilities for carrying out EEG and ERP studies as well as fMRI. I recently organised the annual British Association of Cognitive Neuroscience meeting, University of Dundee, Dundee 29-31 August, 2007 http://www.dundee.ac.uk/psychology/external/bacn/index.htm
