We are delighted to welcome a new SDHI Associate, Professor Norma Baldwin,
who will be contributing her considerable expertise in advising SDHI and
carrying out associated projects.
Norma Baldwin was Professor of Child Care and Protection in the Department
of Social Work. As an Emeritus Professor she continues her research
interests in links between disadvantage and harm to children's development,
safety and wellbeing. She has many interests in common with members of the
Institute - particularly in the Family & Health group.
Professor Baldwin is currently working with an ESRC supported international
group writing about health inequalities and the implications for social
policy and social services. With Professor Julie Taylor and Dr Sarah Nelson
in Dundee, and with colleagues at Edinburgh and Glasgow, she is pursuing
funding to continue work on Medically Unexplained Symptoms in adults abused
as children. She is also involved in 'Serious Case Reviews' of complex
child care cases.
