The Social Dimensions of Health Institute is actively involved in the training of postgraduate students at the Universities of St Andrews and Dundee. This includes general training for all students who are affiliated to the SDHI, as well as specific training courses associated with particular initiatives.
If you are a PhD or Masters student at the University of Dundee or St Andrews who is working on a health-related topic you are welcome to become an affiliate of the SDHI. Affiliation brings with it a series of benefits, not least of which is the opportunity to meet regularly with students and researchers interested in the social dimensions of health who are working in a variety of disciplinary contexts different to your own. These 'away' weekends were held in a Field Centre in central Scotland. Students and staff from a variety of academic backgrounds attended and it was an opportunity to discuss research practice and policy in a friendly and supportive atmosphere. Students, at different stages in their research, presented their ideas and benefited from the insights others with different skills and philosophical approaches have.
